Making a Lasting Power of Attorney is a certain way of protecting your future decisions.A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document. It allows you to appoint someone you trust to act on your behalf (usually a close friend or family member). As the person making the LPA you are called the “Donor” and the person you will appoint to act on your behalf is called an “Attorney”.In order to make an LPA you must be capable of making decisions for yourself. This is called having mental capacity. There are two different LPAs, one is Property & Finance and the other is Health & Welfare. These are separate documents each having their own application & registration requirements.Property & Finance – allows attorneys to buy and sell property, deal with banks & other financial institutions on your behalf.Health & Welfare – allows Attorneys to make decisions on where you live, healthcare & medical requirements. In each case the Lasting Power of Attorney must be registered with a government body before it can be used.To help make this complicated subject so much easier to understand call for a FREE information pack on : 01772 367900
